North Brunswick Township’s 9/11 Memorial

Nicole Flynn

North Brunswick Township’s September 11th Memorial is located on Hermann Road across from the town’s Municipal Complex.  Created by the Township’s September 11th committee, the memorial consists of two granite slabs displaying the names of every person who lost their lives due to the events of September 11, 2001.

What is striking about this memorial is how many close personal connections are involved in its creation.   Many members of the committee, as well as those who offered up donations, knew someone who had died on the day it is commemorating.  The memorial proves how tragic events can touch so many people on personal levels at the same time.  It is a good demonstration of how these kinds of tragedies unite not only nations of people but also the smaller communities existing within them
