Edison Memorial Tower

Rene Polanco

Located in the middle of Christie Street in North Edison, New Jersey is the Edison Memorial Tower.  The monument is extremely tall and quite hard to miss.  It represents past technological accomplishments due to an eager inventor and it symbolizes the possibility for more growth technologically.

What struck me as shocking when I visited this monument in the past as well as for the assignment was the fact that the light bulb at the top is rarely illuminated and that visitors have seemingly stopped coming to this historic landmark.

While exploring this, I discovered that renovations for the tower are in the works and millions of dollars have been donated to restore the tower to its proper form.  If all goes well, visitors and tourists should return to gaze at the wonder and history of this important historical monument.
