Campbell’s Soup Factory

Kelcey Lucas

Located at 1 Campbell’s Place in Camden, New Jersey, the latest installment to the Campbell’s Soup Factory stands and functions as one of the largest food manufacturers in the world.  Although the original Campbell’s factory no longer stands, this factory represents the immense growth of the company since its beginning in 1869. Campbell’s  Soup shocked and affected people nationwide with its unbelievable success spanning from its start to the present day.  Writing about this building forced me to question other industrial changes that may have occurred in Camden during the same era.  For instance, how many other companies had a similar affect on Camden’s economy?  Ultimately, after much research and investigation on the factory and its origins, I discovered just how much one business can affect an entire country’s economy and growth.
