Barron Library

Joseph Barbuto

The Barron Library was the first free public library in Middlesex County, something which greatly surprised me.  Living in today’s world I do not understand how a town could function without a library.  However after seeing how low literacy was at this time it was important to finally have one.

I was also very surprised to know that it was dedicated by the Barron family. I originally thought it was just a common name for the town.  The family had a great influence they had on the community and gave it a great gift.  To get a peek at Woodbridge’s history, the library is located at 582 Rahway Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ.
