The East Brunswick Veterans Monument

Gavin Pellenberg

This monument is an honor to all of those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.  It is not specific to any war but rather it is a general memorial.  It is located in the Civic Center of East Brunswick, located near the public library, police department, senior center, and apartment complexes.

What struck me about this monument was how much was actually in it.  Every time I would pass by it, I would only really see the distinct flag, but up close, there is a lot to see.  I was surprised to find out that it is designated as its own park.  This speaks of how significant it is to the town.

I was surprised to learn how reaching this monument is.  I didn’t know that local and national political figures have come to the Veterans Monument.  Researching this monument gave me a better understanding of how important it is to people such as senior citizens, who comprise a large portion of East Brunswick’s population.
