The Old Schoolhouse

Sabrina Williams

The Old Schoolhouse is located on the corner of Salem Rd and JFK Way in Willingboro, New Jersey. The schoolhouse was built in 1866 and was so small it housed only 53 students ranging from first to fourth grade. Built over 100 years ago by the early Quakers it is now placed on the National Register of Historical Places.

This school was always exciting to me because I lived around the corner from and I was always intrigued by its old look. I was told that the children had no erasers on their pencils and wrote on little chalkboards.

This monument made me think about how far the town has come while still keeping its old historic buildings and railroads representing a town of growth and prosperity.
