Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church, Elementary School, and British Cannon – Union, New Jersey

Vibhuti Shah

Located at the heart of Union, New Jersey are three monuments that collectively recall events the Battle of Connecticut Farms during the Revolutionary War and are a memorial for those who died in the war and the first families of Connecticut Farms.

What struck me the most about these monuments is the close proximity to each other and line up as if to make it seem like a story line of the events of the battle. In addition, it is surprising to see such an important part of history displayed in a small town like Union.

Because of this memorial, I began to think of how history affects even the smallest places in the world and other places that may have been involved in historical events such as the Revolutionary War.
